Now There's Something You Don't See Everyday

Have you ever noticed some of the crazy things people do in their cars on their morning commute? We've all heard stories about people who were pulled over for talking on the phone, drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and doing their make-up all at the same time, but have you ever seen it for yourself? I have. And it scares the crap out of me.

Who in their right mind puts on mascara while driving?! I hardly have the manual dexterity to use eyeliner at all, let alone apply it while controlling a moving vehicle at speeds of 60 m.p.h. And yet, I've witnessed several "Morning Makeovers" on my way to work. Clearly, these women (& one man!) need to brush-up on their safe-driving skills.

I've seen lots of amateur singers behind the wheel & I must confess to becoming one of them. There's nothing like belting out a song when you know no one can hear you. It's especially fun when you try to sing something that's totally out of your range, just to see how bad you can sound. Believe me, I can sound BAD! But who cares? It makes me laugh.

Last week, on my way home from an appointment, I was driving behind a van with an American Red Cross sign on the back. I think it was a blood-delivery truck. When I pulled out to my left to pass the van, I had to do a double-take b/c who should be driving the van but Santa Claus?! Santa Claus! And do you know what? Santa behind the wheel of a van looks awesome! Granted, it was Halloween, but if you're going to see Santa driving anything other than a sleigh with 8 tiny reindeer, I think a Red Cross truck is fairly apropos.

I wonder if I'll see the Headless Horseman on Christmas? I hope not. He's scary. I can't even handle watching the Headless Horseman Scooby-Doo episode.

Happy November,
PortlandGirl
